These small houses were shown in the 1925 "alphabet" series of Radford house plans published in American Builder magazine. The Newberry is a classic English Cottage style home with its very steep roof and shingled siding. Living space is downstairs with two bedrooms and a bath upstairs. The Nugget is much smaller and more traditionally styled. It has one bedroom and bath, but also has a "bed closet" which is where the extra bed was stored. Such beds where offered by a range of manufacturers. Some folded into the wall and others compacted so they could be stored when not in use ... an easy way to get more mileage from living space today.
